A White Space layout...

Sharing my layout that was up on the Quick Quotes Blog yesterday!

I love the crispness that the black snowflakes add, along with the added interest and contrast that the white embossing paste dots create!  These two embellishments that are both minimal, but really capture the feel I wanted to create with this layout. The quote is perfect for these two little shining stars.  They are my friend's little ones and let me tell you these two cute kiddos couldn't be any more loved than they already are! The quote says:

If I could reach up and hold a Star for every time you've made me Smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my Hand.

Quick Quotes always has the perfect quote for every occasion out there, whether vellum or cardstock, it's always a wise idea to have a bunch in your stash...so you can add text and journaling with ease!

Keepin' Cozy Layered Mini album for Samantha Walker

Layered Mini Album with Keepin' Cozy by Cathy

Hi!  I have a mini album to share with you, featuring several Samantha Walker cutting files and the paper collection she designed for
Echo Park...Keepin' Cozy! My very first post for her Creative team, so thrilled to be a part of this team and this journery!

A couple of months back, I saw an amazing mini album on the Silhouette Blog.  I loved it and bought the bundle to create my own. Then, when we were assigned our dates to post for Samantha Walker's Creative team...I wondered if I could create one similar with her files.  So that is exactly what I did!

I love how it turned out!

Here is the list of files I used to create the mini and towards the end I will list the files for cover.

I cut all the pieces in the order listed above.  I had to ungroup the hexagon snowflake card, so that I had just the card base.  The only file I reduced was doily lace, which I reduced to 6 inches in diameter.
Here is a screen shot of the layers.

After everything was cut, I inked all the edges except the white card stock.  I layered the pieces all back together and added a glassine bag for one more layer.  I added a piece of scrap paper, sequins and stickers to create a fun little pocket on one side and then a tag to other.  I stitched through the entire stack of layers...no problem for mysewing machine whatsoever.

For the cover, I used the snowflake that I ungrouped from the hexagon snowflake card, and circle tear drop scallop #4238 reduced to 6.25 inches.  I added a 5 inch circle of vellum for one more layer. Then finished up the mini with stickers from Keepin' Cozy, a little Twinery Twine, then added some miscellaneous buttons &sequins.

I can't wait to send this to my BFF back home, so she can add all of her fun Instagram photos of her kiddos sledding and playing in the snow.  There are so many
Samantha Walker cut files that you could use to create a mini...the possibilities are endless!

Hexagon Love

I am hosting the blog today over at Quick Quotes and I am playing along with Challenge 35, a  Bright and Shiny New Year.
I had fun layering vellum and adding sequins for bling.
A simple card but I love how it turned out. I used the Dusty Road collection and my Silhouette Cameo to create my card.

I cut the hexagon twice, once with Dusty Road 100 and then again, shadowed just a bit larger with Dusty Road 400.  I then cut two pieces of vellum to fit and added some sequins for the bling.

The card sketch is from the talented Christine Meyer.

A Bendy Fence Card..

So many great new Samanta Walker Silhouette Files this week..I love her new Bendy Cards.  So much fun to play with...I might be addicted.  I love how this one turned out using the
Bendi Card w/ fence file and her Echo Park Paper collection, Keepin' Cozy.

Isn't it adorable..lol?
I followed Samantha's tutorial here on how to assemble the bendy cards, then cut the snowman and snowflake.
For the card, I used two different colors of card stock, and just ungrouped the card so I could cut the two back panels in blue and the fence in white!  Followed the tutorial to put it together and used Scor tape for adhesive.
I then cut the snowman...I reduced him by 50% and ungrouped him so I could cut it in various Keepin' Cozy patterned papers and card stock.  I used a glue pen to put him together and added black bling for his eyes, mouth and buttons...which are hiding behind the fence.  I cut my snowflake next and then had fun building my scene with my snowman, snowflake and Keepin' Cozy stickers.  A little twine, a couple of pearls and it was complete.

Here are the files I used:

And Samantha Walker's Echo Park Collection Keepin' Cozy!

This month the team has been focusing on snowflakes and the Samantha Walker Silhouette Store has so many great files for snowflakes and winter...it is so hard to choose!  After checking out all of the great files, I chose Snowflake Border
Snowflake 5 and the
circle tear drop scallop for my layout! I really wanted this to be simple, focusing on the amazing photo that my friend Leah took and the snowflake border.  I think I love the simplicity of it the most!

other supplies:
Salt and Pepper Swiss Dot Card Stock from Bazzill, Maya Road Cording, Vellum, miscellaneous pearls and sequins, Marshmellow and Blue Twilight Glimmer Mist, Sunday Font

I reduced the snowflake border by 50%, duplicated it and welded it to make it fit across the page.
And for the snowflake 5 with the tear drop scallop..I reduced the circle by 25% , added the snowflake which I reduced by 35% and then simply centered the snowflake inside the scallop circle.  Once it was cut, I then cut circle in half with my paper trimmer, adhered the vellum and added it to my page.

My first post for Quick Quotes

My first post it up for Quick Quotes..you can check it out here:  http://www.blogquickquotes.com/2014/01/introducing-cathy-harper.html

I was instantly drawn to the Dusty Road Collection and knew that is would be perfect of this little guy on his first birthday! His gorgeous blue eyes and his shirt just made it all fall together easily!
I had some help from my Silhouette Cameo, I used the sketch pens to add a bit of interest in the background and then cut lots of different hearts and border.  I backed all the hearts with vellum and added a glassine bag to hold the little tag.  Loving the look of the vellum with these Quick Quotes patterned papers.  I inked everything with Blue Moon Powder Puff Chalk Ink, and I have to say I love these, totally hooked now!
