Sewing/Notions Projects

I had so much fun creating this card for
Practical Scrappers Sewing and Notion Challenge.  I used Cosmo Cricket's Baby Jane line...tons of great sewing items in this line and I love the colors and patterns of the collection, also!
The bottom right flower was created from a vintage pattern envelope and the Silhouette. So fun!   Make sure to stop by
Practical Scrappers to check out all the great projects!

Jenni Bowlin Stencil Paper Tag/Card

I love this Jenni Bowlin Stencil paper...it is just so fun.  I have quite a stash of it...so decided to cut it into pieces and see where that might take me.  Almost a crime to cut it apart but I do love how this tag that opens to used as a card turned out!
I used a bit of Lily Bee Memorandum paper, MME Miss Caroline papers, sticker and brad and some twine from The Twinery... resulting in a  perfect pretty little tag.  Love it!

Happy Friday, have a great weekend!

Pie Chart Happy Birthday

Pie Charts and Sun Bursts are all the rage right now in paper crafting.  Thought I would give it a try with some Pink Paislee Indigo Bleu!  I just love the colors of this line.

The pie chart, label and sentiment were all created with the Silhouette.  A bit of Washi Tape from Bella Blvd, some Twine from The Twinery and a couple artisan elements from Pink Paislee too!

Hope you are having a happy day!

Big day and a lazy start

Sharing pictures from my morning...Maxenxi's first day of High School. She was nervous and not so thrilled with first day of school pictures...I assume she thinks she is to old for that.
And the other four who were all parked in the front room on the couch when I returned.
Sam must have moved when I took the pictures...something crazy going on with her mouth.  One hour later now and they are still all parked out there!

Inspiration Elevator Reveal

You may recall from last month's challenge that the purpose of this challenge group was to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow.

This month our challenger was the very talented Lisa Moen.  Lisa, like most of us, doesn't always take the "perfect" photos. In fact, sometimes, the imperfect is all you have to tell your story. This month Lisa challenged us to use those imperfect photos to tell an story. Here's what she had to say about her challenge:

"I was digging through some old 1980's photos the other day and realized how bad some of the pictures were. Cameras have come a LONG way since then!

I have lots of pictures I haven't scrapped because they were/are poor quality pictures and I am sure you have pictures like that too. So let's dig out those blurry, bad pictures and tell the story behind them!  So my challenge to you this month is to use a bad photo and journal about it."

I delete almost every blurry picture I take, that's the beauty of digital.  I really had nothing to work with, but thanks to my bestie, Angie, I have the perfect photo for this challenge.  Blurry but shows the perfect action and emotion of the day.  Love this little guy.

I used Echo Park's Hello Summer to create the layout, twine from The Twinery and a bit of Smash Tape, Studio Calico Mister Huey's and the Silhouette.  Love it.  The Beach Ball flips open to read the journaling.
Check out the cool 3-D Sun...inspired by team member Christa Uttley and her tutorial, check out the link here:

I hope you will stop by and see what the designers on this adventure have created:

Cathy Harper (you are here)
I invite you to play along with any of our challenges and add your comment below with a link, we would love to see what you have created..

Lots of great ideas for using Ledger or Notebook paper today on the

Now I love it!

Authentique Fresh layouts

While I was in Pierre a couple of weeks ago at the Scrappin Ladies Retreat, I fell in love with the new Aunthentique line Fresh.
Of course I had no beach pictures with me...but Lynne took down a couple of old layouts from the store wall of Nikki at the beach...so I could play!  I did two layouts with this gorgeous line and forgot to take a picture of the first one (yep, had to leave it with Lynne).  But here is the other...I just love how crisp, clean and classic it turned out!

Hope you are having a happy Thursday and stopping by the blog today!

Alex's mustache...really?

Another layout to share with you...this one is just for me!  My adorable son, who is far too handsome to be sporting this silly mustache!  I have hard time just looking at it, but he insists that it makes all of his clients happy and that they all love it.  Alex works with mentally challenged people and is the Art Director at Aspire...so if it brings joy to them, I guess I can handle it! Maybe.
Created with My Mind's Eye Papers and the Silhouette! Inspired by this layout
I mustache you
Thanks for stopping by and I hope this brings a smile to you!

A new layout to share

The Moxxie Blog Hop is one post down!

Just sharing a new layout with you today, it is super simple!  I had some time this weekend, just to do some scrapping for myself.
I used Echo Park's Hello Summer and a Jenni Bowlin Stencil Guide paper!  Love these papers!
If you click to enlarge the layout, you can see that this little sweetie has a frog in her hands.  She loved the frogs and had no fear of slimy things!  She is just too cute!
Like I said, the layout is super simple but I really wanted to focus on the photos!

Have a Happy Monday!

1 year later

It has been one year today, that I sold my scrapbook store.  Things have changed so very much and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss that special little store, all the amazing friends and customers that became part of my world!
I create more, found my own style and love paper crafting even more than when I had the store.
I have had the most amazing year and been blessed with so much.  My family is healthy and happy, our lives are good.
I won a couple paper crafting competitions, gained some confidence and through some urging of Christine Meyers, owner of Practical Scrappers, I started submitting Design Team Applications.  Thank you so much Christine for the encouragement.  I made a few teams, next came submitting projects for publication.  I started submitting in April and I am thrilled to tell you that I have projects coming out in  Northridge Publications (Cards and Create) over the next few months.
It's been an incredible journey and appreciate all of you taking this journey with me!
