Elle's Studio Thursday Sketch and doilies

Playing along again this week with Elle's Studio Sketch Thursday.  I love these sketches and they are a bit of a challenge for me, as most of the time they have lots of open/white space..something I am really trying to work on.  Plus it's Ten Things you can do with doilies over at Practical Scrappers..so I am two for two this morning!   Check out all the fab ideas over there with the doilies.

Here is my take on the Elle's Studio Sketch!
I die cut the little chevron arrows with the Silhouette, filled in the negative space and layered a few more chevrons on top.  Still playing with the Gelatos too, just not real sure if I like the messy color layered behind the photo or not.  Plus everything wrinkled and I had a heck of a time even with ironing it to get it flattened out.  Lesson learned...Gelatos first...not as an after thought!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Inspiration Elevator : Challenge 17

Inspiration Elevator

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges our new Inspiration Elevator Blog, here.

Our challenge this month comes from the very talented Cathy Harper. Here's what she had to say in her very own words:
"I want to know what inspires you to create. As I was driving home the other day from my trip back to Black Hills, I saw a really cool billboard...clouds, the sun, and a few hearts. I immediately thought how great the design was and how I could transform it into a card or layout.(No, I didn't get a picture of it as it was the week of the annual Sturgis Bike Rally and no way was I pulling off the side of the interstate with all of that crazy traffic.) Even the other day, as I was walking through Target, I saw a couple of cute Baby gift bags that had great design principle that I could use as inspiration to create with too! Then it hit me that this would be a great challenge for my IE teammates. We recently had Sue's challenge where we were inspired by another teammate and lifted their style..but I want to know what else inspires you besides other designers cards and layouts. Are you a Pinterest addict like me? And find great design ideas there or in a magazine with a brilliant ad!? Find something inspires you, pin it or take a photo and create your work from there...you must include a photo of your inspiration and a link (if there is one) with your project for the challenge!"

This was my challenge to this amazing team of designers.  I am always captivated and awed by this bunch of ladies, the talent is jaw dropping and I still sometimes wonder what I am doing here on Inspiration Elevator among them.
I find inspiration in lots of places and quite honestly I can't even begin to create until I see something that inspires me...and then almost instantaneously I know exactly what I want to create.  It is just the finding that inspiration that takes the longest and Pinterest has made it a bit easier that's for sure. This time my inspiration came from a email I received from Zulily with a ad for a sale that they were having..and just like I said..I was instantly inspired and knew exactly what I wanted to create!

I love how this turned out..and a huge thank you to Leah for sharing her photography and her beautiful baby girl with me.  She is a beauty and I adore getting to create with Leah's photos.  I hope you will stop by and see what the  rest of the incredible Inspiration Elevator designers have created:
If you feel inspired to play along with my challenge this month, please share it using the linky tool on our Inspiration Elevator blog and/or our Inspiration Elevator Facebook page. We'd LOVE to see what you made!

Halloween Cards with EP's Chillingsworth Manor

Back to share more Halloween paper crafting...this time with
Echo Park's Chillingsworth Manor.  I love this line, super fun and full of great patterns and colors.  It is their Halloween release from last season and yes, I hoarded it til this season.
Can't wait to create with Carta Bella's Happy Haunting and hopefully I will get to that before next season..no promises though!

This card was based of a sketch from the amazing
Laurel Seabrook that she designed for Echo Park.

Thanks for stopping by today...and hoping you take time to say a little prayer and  remembrance of all the lives lost and all the amazing heroes of 9/11!

Moldelling Paste and WE R Chalkboard

A great post over at Practical Scrappers...getting arsty crafty with gesso and modelling paste.
I have wanted to give this a try for quite sometime as it seems you are seeing it everywhere in scrapbooking.  Super easy to work with and I love how this layout turned out with a little extra interest and texture!
I used the new We R Chalkboard collection and a Heidi Swapp polka dot mask along with the modelling paste.  The layout features a little miss with her very own sense of style...cowboy hat, shades and a Princess Belle Dress...may she always do what makes her happy!

Happy Monday!

Thrilling addiction!

I have to admit to you that I am addicted to this paper line from Authentique...Thrilling.  I had enough paper left to do one more layout and I simply couldn't resist it.  I may even have enough left for a couple of cards.  Yay me!
This layout is up on the Scraptown Lady Blog today!
Lots of fun with my Silhouette Cameo and Authentique's super fun card stock stickers.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
